About Edline...
Edline
is a secure, web-based tool that will help improve communication
between teachers, parents, and students. It is one of the leading
total-school website solutions, being used in all 50 states as well as
internationally. Edline has been featured on FOX News & NBC
television,
in Newsweek magazine, and in numerous newspapers across the
nation.
Activiate Your Edline Account...
Parents,
if you have problems activating your Edline account, please e-mail
Traci Lausier (traci.lausier@stjohnocala.org)
and let her know you need some help.
Reports...
Edline
makes it easy for parents and students to see grade reports, missing
work, and homework assignments. Students who miss school due to illness
or sports can go to Edline and discover what the day's assignments
were. Parents can more easily take an active role in their student's
education. Grade updates will be uploaded weekly. Be sure to check
Edline before handing over the car keys!
News...
Teachers, coaches, and club sponsors can
post important news items such as details of an upcoming field trip
(including the permission slip!) as well as sports team results and
specifics about a service project. Do you need to see the PowerPoint
Mrs. Janousky did in AP History class one more time? Ask her to post it
on Edline!
Calendar...
Edline
creates a combined calendar of sports, clubs, and classroom activities
in which you and your child may be involved. Scheduled sports practices
and homework assignments, club meetings and test dates will all be
displayed like a planner so you can see the big picture. And you won't
lose it in the bottom of the backpack!
Communication...
With Edline, a teacher can e-mail the
entire class with the click of a button. Parents can receive an e-mail
from Edline each time one of their student's teachers updates a report.
Parents, do not tell your students your Edline screen name and
password. For the purpose of confidentiality and privacy, if you share
an e-mail account with your student, please change the password (and do
not share it with your student) or create a new e-mail address that
students will not be able to access.

Parents and students:
Go to www.edline.net.
Click below "Activate an Account" and
type in the Activation Code you received from St. John.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
Parents, if you have more than one student at St. John, or have a
student in another school that uses Edline, pay close attention to the
"Combine Accounts" directions.
Edline will ask you to create a
screen name and password. Parents, do not tell your student
your Edline screen name & password. Also, do not use a screen name
& password that your student already knows which you may be using
for other online accounts.
You will be asked to enter an e-mail
address for teachers to use when sending messages. If you have a
"family" e-mail account that you share with your student, please create
a new e-mail address with your Internet Service Provider or Yahoo,
Hotmail, GMail, etc., that your child will not be able to access.
Teachers will sometimes send confidential information to your e-mail
address, so it is important that your e-mail be private and kept
confidential from your student. Alternatively, a separate e-mail
account could be created for your student, and your password to the
"family" account be changed and kept private.
When you finish, you will be able to
log onto Edline using your newly created screen name and password by
going to the "Member Log In" area at www.edline.net.
