Academics

St. John has a long tradition of excellence in the Ocala community.  Our founders were dedicated to developing a Lutheran school, which combined a liberal arts curriculum within the framework of a Christian worldview. For over fifty years, one of the primary purposes of an education at St. John has been to lead students to the knowledge, love and service of our Savior, Jesus Christ. This still remains true today.

St. John graduates are successful in their efforts to further their education at colleges and universities throughout the country. During their years at St. John, students are guided by an experienced, Christian faculty and staff who assist them in their educational and spiritual development. Our ultimate goal for our students is that they will live out their faith in the world.

St. John Lutheran School is a college preparatory Christian school sponsored by the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and accredited by the National Lutheran Schools Associations and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, now known as AdvancEd.  Being accredited by these organizations, helps us to maintain rigorous standards for learning as well as to consistently challenge ourselves towards improvement in all areas. Located in southeast Ocala and established in 1963, St. John serves students in K3 through 12th grade while pursuing excellence in all aspects of our students development and preparation for life beyond high school.

Admission requires a review of academic performance, a commitment to our philosophy and values, proof of no previous disciplinary or attendance issues, and an interview with school administration.  A determination of eligibility for admission using report cards, transcripts, standardized testing, and recommendations from previous teachers is part of the admissions process. Once admitted, students must work diligently to achieve and maintain academic success and demonstrate behavior that contributes positively to our St. John community.

See our “Portrait of a St. John Graduate” in the Admissions section of our website for a more detailed look at the impact a St. John experience can have on your child.
